Why we measured this

We were looking for something else: whether an AI assistant can answer “what does this cost” about a real business. It mostly cannot, and not because the prices are secret — 42 of 46 publish one somewhere. They publish it as text laid out for a human eye, or inside a JavaScript payload, or as a PDF. 0 of 46 can accept a request from a machine.

Collecting the prices properly was the side effect, and it turned out to be the more useful half. The full machine-readability survey has the method and all the rows.
